ISP Radio Announcers Honored

WINSTON-SALEM, NC – Four ISP Sports play-by-play announcers have been honored as their state’s top sportscaster in 2008 by the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association (NSSA).  The organization will officially present both its state and national awards on May 4th in Salisbury, NC.

            The ISP radio honorees include Chris Stewart (Crimson Tide Sports Network / state of Alabama), Chuck Barrett (Razorback Radio Network / Arkansas), Gene Deckerhoff (Seminole ISP Sports Network / Florida) and Steve Cotton (Marshall ISP Sports Network / West Virginia).

            “We congratulate each of these individuals and are proud to have them on our ISP team.”  ISP Chairman and CEO Ben Sutton says.  “Each of them brings energy and professionalism to every broadcast, which is evident in the quality work they produce as part of our network.

            “As we recognize these four individuals, however, we must also salute the dedicated personnel working with them as part of their broadcast crews and behind the scenes in the network studios.  Everyone should be congratulated.”

            In addition to the four individuals noted above, two other play-by-play announcers who represent ISP partner universities – Bob Black (University of Richmond) and Bud Nameck (Washington State) – were honored in their respective states of Virginia and Washington.

2008 ISP SPORTS NETWORK NSSA HONOREES

Chuck Barrett — an award recipient for the second straight year … member of the Arkansas Razorback Sports Network football broadcasts for 15 years and baseball radio play-by-play man for the past 17 seasons.

Steve Cotton – a seven-time NSSA honoree… in his 13th season as the “Voice of the Herd” and his 15th year as a member of the Marshall broadcast crew.

Gene Deckerhoff –the “Voice of the Seminoles” for more than 30 years in both football and men’s basketball and an 11-time NSSA honoree … his state’s honoree for the second straight year.

Chris Stewart – honored for the second consecutive year (and 3rd time overall) … in his seventh year as CTSN men’s basketball play-by-play man … also lead announcer for football pay per view and delayed telecasts
